Silmachy began in 2015, when a pharmacist decided that the beauty industry could and should do better.
Marta, the founder of Silmachy Cosmetics, started creating her own formulas at home after learning about the growing presence of microplastics in the human body and the impact of plastic pollution on the environment. What began as a small personal project quickly turned into a mission: to create beauty products that are clean inside and out, made responsibly and without plastic.
Everything we do is focused on reducing waste and keeping things as natural as possible. I didn’t want to add to the problem through my work – I wanted to help solve it.
– Marta, Founder, Silmachy Cosmetics
Today, Silmachy produces natural zero-waste cosmetics, all handcrafted in-house by a team of three. Every formula is created by Marta herself, drawing on her background in pharmacy to ensure ingredient safety and product quality.
Their range covers everyday essentials – solid shampoos, conditioners, deodorants, soap bars, hand and lip balms – made with minimal water, long-lasting formulas, and packaged only in aluminium, glass, or FSC-certified cardboard that’s home-compostable. This means that for every tree used to make their boxes, two are planted back.
Silmachy’s belief is simple: self-care should go hand in hand with caring for the planet.
Over the years, Silmachy’s dedication to sustainability and craftsmanship has been recognised by multiple honours, including the European Natural Beauty Awards, Free From Skincare Awards, and the Baltic E-commerce Star.

The challenge
As Silmachy’s online orders grew, managing logistics became one of the team’s biggest challenges. With just three people handling everything from production to customer support, even small inefficiencies made a big impact.
Before Montonio, our biggest problem was the time it took to process orders. We had to sort through different logistics companies, print labels, and customise everything manually. It slowed us down and sometimes affected our customers.
– Marta
At one point, Silmachy worked with multiple delivery providers: DPD, Omniva, and Latvijas Pasts (Latvian postal service). This complicated both internal operations and the customer experience. Each shipment required manual input, label generation, and separate tracking.
For a small, hands-on brand built on simplicity and sustainability, this process was anything but simple. What Silmachy needed was a solution that could bring efficiency and consistency to their checkout and fulfilment process, without adding technical complexity or extra steps for customers.
The solution
Changing systems can be intimidating – especially when time is limited and technical tasks often pull focus from production. Marta admits she was hesitant at first, but the experience turned out far easier than expected.
I usually hate changing systems because it feels too technical and takes a lot of time. But the onboarding with Montonio was surprisingly smooth. Your team handled everything – I just had to register. It was quick and painless.
– Marta
Montonio’s setup proved simple, fast, and well supported, removing the complexity Marta had come to expect from technical integrations. What once felt like a burden became a straightforward process that fit naturally into their day-to-day operations.

The results
Once the integration was complete, the difference was immediate. Montonio simplified Silmachy’s checkout and logistics, automating much of the manual work that had previously slowed the team down. Customers could now choose their preferred payment and delivery methods directly within the store, eliminating confusion and unnecessary steps.
Since switching to Montonio, we’ve reduced manual work, and customers love having their favourite payment and delivery options in one place.
– Marta
The new setup also made everyday admin easier. When Marta needed accounting reports early on, Montonio’s support team quickly provided them – and those same reports can now be generated automatically in the platform.
After nearly two years with Montonio, Silmachy has a more efficient, reliable checkout process that aligns with their values of simplicity and transparency. It allows the team to focus less on operations and more on what truly matters – crafting high-quality, sustainable products for their growing community.

Looking ahead
Silmachy’s next chapter is all about growth – both in production capacity and international reach.
Our main goal now is to move to a bigger space – a proper factory where we can produce more, expand our product range, and have more room for storage. To do that, we’ll focus more on exports. Most of our sales are local, but it’s time to grow beyond Latvia.
– Marta
While the brand already works with zero-waste shops and concept stores across Europe, Marta sees huge potential in expanding Silmachy’s reach through new markets and partnerships. With plans to launch new products and strengthen its B2B network, the team is building on a strong foundation of loyal, returning customers who share their vision.
Montonio continues to play a role in that journey, helping Silmachy keep operations simple as they grow, so the team can focus on creativity and sustainability rather than technical complexity.
