How Sakfa streamlined custom orders with Payment Links
November 28, 2025

Sakfa began with a simple wish shared between a mother and daughter. Kinga had spent decades running a leatherwork shop, repairing handbags, belts, and jackets. Over the years, she developed a deep understanding of materials – what lasts, what fails, and how good craftsmanship can transform an everyday item. But she always dreamed of creating something of her own, not just fixing what others brought in.

When Angelika was looking for a new job, they decided to join forces and give that dream a chance.

My mother took on sewing, and I took on organisation, sales, and everything computer-related. At first, we treated it as a test run – we didn’t believe it would turn into anything big.

But demand grew quickly. Customers kept coming back for the careful workmanship, thoughtful details, and the distinctive character of each piece. What started as a small idea in a workshop has grown into a 12-person, all-women team, designing and producing everything themselves – from material selection to final stitching.

Today, Sakfa is known for made-to-order bags and accessories crafted from high-quality fabrics and faux leather, built with the same care and practicality that shaped Kinga’s years in leather repair. It’s a business rooted in craft, family, and a shared belief that everyday items should be both beautiful and durable.

The challenge

Before switching to Montonio, Sakfa used other payment service providers, but the setup wasn’t ideal for their needs. The rates were higher, the dashboard was less intuitive, and they had no simple way to request payments for the many made-to-order items they sold outside the website.

We sew a lot of custom products that aren’t available online, and we often take orders through Messenger. Manually checking whether a payment had been processed was truly tedious.

Nothing was fundamentally broken, but the process didn’t support the way the business actually worked – especially as order volume increased.

The solution

The decision to switch to Montonio was straightforward. Pricing was certainly a factor, but just as important was finding a payment setup that matched the way Sakfa actually operated day to day. They needed tools that would make handling custom orders easier, not add more steps to an already busy workflow.

Their IT team managed the integration, and the transition was smooth. Once everything was in place, one of the first things they noticed was how much clearer and more intuitive the platform felt compared to what they had used before.

After the change, we immediately noticed that the dashboard is clear and intuitive. We also greatly appreciate the quick responses to emails if we have any questions.

For a small team balancing sewing, order management, and communication across multiple channels, having a clean, easy-to-navigate system made an immediate difference in daily operations.

The results

For Sakfa, the biggest shift came from finally having payment links. With so many orders placed through Messenger, being able to send a quick, trackable link removed much of the manual work that previously slowed things down.

Now, payment issues are rare, and refunds are handled quickly and intuitively. The entire checkout process is simply more efficient.

The change also meant no more checking bank transfers by hand – a task that had become increasingly time-consuming as order volume grew. With payments and refunds consolidated in one clear interface, the team could focus more on production and customer communication instead of administrative follow-up.

Overall, the checkout process became smoother and more aligned with how customers actually interact with the brand, whether through the shop or direct messages.

Looking ahead

Sakfa is not aiming for rapid expansion or new markets at any cost. Instead, the focus is on steadily refining their products and continuing to serve a loyal, growing community of customers who value craft and personal attention.

As a small company, we don’t plan to enter new markets. For now, we simply want to steadily develop our offerings – and we don’t plan on changing our payment provider, as we’re truly satisfied with Montonio.

For Angelika and Kinga, it’s less about scaling fast and more about building a sustainable business that can keep creating well-made, practical pieces – with a payment setup that quietly supports that work in the background.
